Dr. Guimaraes is a Psychiatrist with experience in Psycho-pharmacology and Psychotherapy. He also has extensive experience in Neuroscience (over 40 years). He has done research on the relationship of the Limbic System (the part of the brain related to emotions) and Autonomic System, Epilepsy, Brain Imaging, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), and currently uses different forms of Transcranial Electrical Stimulation (TES) to improve Neuro-Psychiatric Disorders.

Dr. Guimaraes grew up in Brazil, influenced by Christian and Spiritist teachings. Over the last 30 years he has expanded his spiritual education by studying Chinese Philosophy, Hinduism, and the teachings of the I Ching and Lao Tzu. For the last 6 years he has been practicing meditation and studying the teachings of Buddha. Most recently, he began practicing Qigong, expanding on the breath and body connection he has built from his many years of practicing yoga.

Dr. Guimaraes uses knowledge acquired from these all of these diverse traditions in his approach to helping his patients to achieve wellbeing.
